THE GREAT BEAUTY

Paolo Sorrentino | Italy | 2013

For decades, journalist Jep Gambardella has charmed and seduced his way through the glittering nightlife of Rome. Since the legendary success of his only novel, he has been a permanent fixture in the city’s literary and elite social circles. But on his sixty-fifth birthday, Jep unexpectedly finds himself taking stock of his life, turning his cutting wit on himself and his contemporaries, and looking past the lavish nightclubs, parties, and cafés to find Rome itself, in all its monumental glory: a timeless landscape of absurd, exquisite beauty. Featuring sensuous cinematography, a lush score, and an award-winning central performance by the great Toni Servillo, this transporting experience by the brilliant Italian director Paolo Sorrentino is a breathtaking Felliniesque tale of decadence and lost love.

THE EXHIBITION

Studio Russo Gallery, in collaboration with Artvocate, is proud to present Disintegration Regeneration, a solo exhibition by Anastasia Travieso-Diaz.

This compelling body of work explores the tension between rupture and renewal where fragmentation is not an end, but a necessary passage toward transformation. Through layered compositions, material experimentation, and an intuitive visual language, Anastasia invites viewers into a space where breakdown gives way to reassembly, and where identity, memory, and form are continuously reshaped.

Rooted in a personal narrative, Disintegration Regeneration reflects on cycles of loss, resilience, and becoming. Each piece carries traces of what once was, while gesturing toward what is still possible, holding contradiction, vulnerability, and strength in dynamic balance.

This exhibition emphasizes the power of artistic practice as a site of inquiry and healing. It offers a moment to pause, reflect, and reconnect with ourselves, with each other, and with the processes that shape us.

THE ARTIST AND CURATORS

Anastasia Travieso-Diaz

Artist

Anastasia Travieso-Diaz

Anastasia Travieso-Diaz is a self-taught painter, she discovered the palette knife as a painting tool and loved it instantly. Painting by means of a palette knife changed everything, opening a world of unlimited, unexpected, and unpredictable results—a creative freedom she had never experienced. She is drawn to the excitement of not knowing what will happen as she uses it, and to the surprise of what emerges on the canvas. The thrill of the unknown, and the spontaneity and beauty that emerge from her creative process, keep her returning to the canvas again and again, always finding new images to express.
