PM @ The TM
Thursday, July 26, 2012
Time: 6:30 PM
Location: Textile Museum – 2320 S Street, NW, Washington, DC
Cost: $15 per person (includes one drink)
Summer is blockbuster season – and who doesn’t love a good monster movie? In keeping with the theme of the current exhibition Dragons, Nagas, and Creatures of the Deep, the Textile Museum is screening The Host. Come before sunset to enjoy drinks, music, and the chance to “meet” the good-willed dragons on view in the galleries. Bring your own snacks, or purchase steamed buns by People’s Bao. Internationally celebrated by critics and audiences alike, The Host premiered at the 2006 Cannes Film Festival and is the highest-grossing South Korean film of all time.
Venture indoors to explore the museum’s current exhibitions Dragons, Nagas, and Creatures of the Deep, Sourcing the Museum, and Woven Treasures of Japan’s Tawaraya Workshop. Visitors to this PM @ the TM will also be able to visit and interact with a panel of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, on view for just one week (July 21-27).
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. The film will screen at sundown.
Presented in partnership with the Pink Line Project and Washington Film Institute. This film screening is supported in part by a grant from Advisory Neighborhood Commission 2D.
Tickets are $15. One drink is included in ticket price (two drinks for museum members).
Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and food will be available for sale-cash only. Ticket includes 1 complimentary beer/wine. No outside food and beverages allowed. All ages welcome, must be 21+ to purchase alcoholic beverages.
We recommend you bring a mat/blanket to enjoy the movie comfortably in the museum gardens. In the event of bad weather, the program will be rescheduled for August 2, 2012 and all ticket purchasers will receive advance email notification.
