FITZCARRALDO
158 minutes, German with English subtitles
Director: Werner Herzog
Writer: Werner Herzog
Stars: Klaus Kinski, Claudia Cardinale, José Lewgoy

German filmmaker Werner Herzog has never done anything by halves. When Herzog tackled Fitzcarraldo, the story of an obsessed impresario (Klaus Kinski) whose foremost desire in life is to bring both Enrico Caruso and an opera house to the deepest jungles of South America, the director boldly embarked on the same journey, disdaining studios, process shots, and special effects throughout. The highlight of the story is Fizcarraldo’s Herculean effort to haul a 300-plus ton steamship over the mountains.

REVIEWS

It’s a stunning spectacle, an adventure-comedy not quite like any other, and the most benign movie ever made about 19th-century capitalism running amok.
—Vincent Canby, New York Times

As a document of a quest and a dream, and as the record of man’s audacity and foolish, visionary heroism, there has never been another movie like it.

—Roger Ebert, Chicago Sun-Times

THE BREWERY

SCHLOSSBRAUEREI STELZER

Schlossbrauerei Stelzer is a private family-owned brewery, with seat in Upper-Franconia next to the city of Hof / Saale (in a small village called Fattigau).  Stelzer has been brewing beer since the 1300’s. This is the first time their beer is being sold outside of Germany. Their beers are all natural and abide by the strict German Purity Laws.

As the first brewery in Upper-Franconia, they brew with ‘Bioland’ resources from controlled organic farming after strict ‘Bioland’ guidelines, which means they use only all natural and organic ingredients. The outstanding brewing comes out of a Natural Spring Water well that is 320’ deep. Their beer ferments by the classical cold brewing process in the fermenting cellar. After the primary fermentation, the beer maturates at low temperatures in the storage cellar

ZELOS TRADING

CEO Behrad Ashayeri  and VP Jason Bellin of Zelos Trading are bringing Schlossbrauerei Stelzer beers to the United States.  Behrad lived in Hof, Germany for eight years and decided one day that he must make it a mission introduce American audiences to some of these fine brews, including:  Bio-Perle, Ritter Trunk, Export, and UrtypHell.
