ONE REVOLUTION

Please join WFI and GWSMPAGW’s School of Media and Public Affairs for an inspirational film event!

On Wednesday October 19, we will screen ONE REVOLUTION.

Director: Amanda Stoddard
Starring: Chris Waddell
Country: USA / Running Time: 95 mins / Language: English

Paralyzed in 1988 while ski racing for Middlebury College, Chris Waddell went on to become one of the most decorated Paralympic athletes, earning 13 medals over seven games. He is a World Championship skier and wheelchair racer, and is bringing his inspirational story to GW for the first time on October 19th.

ONE REVOLUTION cinematically captures Waddell’s very human journey to dare greatly and ultimately to live fully. This film chronicles the heart and spirit behind an extraordinary achievement as it documents his almost entirely unassisted paraplegic ascent of 19,340-foot Mt. Kilimanjaro.

Compelled to change the way that others perceive those with disabilities, Waddell also founded One Revolution Foundation. The foundation’s mission is to change the way that the world sees people with disabilities by demonstrating the common journey of challenge.

Come meet this amazing man and see his story of personal and physical triumph!

Chris Waddell

Q&A WITH CHRIS WADDELL FOLLOWS
Chris Waddell was a promising young skier when, in 1988, a skiing accident left him paralyzed from the waist down. Determined not to allow his injuries to keep him off the slopes, Chris was named to the US Disabled Ski Team two years later. He spent 11 years on the team and became the most decorated male skier in Paralympic history, winning twelve medals over four games.

In addition to his work with the Paralympics and the International Paralympic Committee, Waddell has found success as a motivational speaker. Waddell speaks to the resilience of the human condition, with topics ranging from leadership to adversity to quality of life. He has been featured in numerous publications, including Outside Magazine, Skiing, and National Geographic Explorer. He has also appeared on Dateline and Oprah.
